Scar therapy is a non-invasive method of treating scars. Scar therapy can help stimulate the scar and underlying tissues through using gentle pressure and fascial techniques at the right pressure and pace to suit you .

This treatment will help reduce symptoms of :

  • Pain , sensitivity, or numbness
  • Limited movement or tightness
  • Pulling or puckering
  • Fibrous scar tissues or scar adhesions

Scar therapy can help with overall wellbeing and connection to your scar. Scar therapy is widely practiced in the UK and America but is a relatively new practice in Ireland and I am so excited to share my knowledge and passion for healing with you all .

What can I expect from a scar therapy session ?

  1. Initial Consultation : Your therapist will discuss your medical history, the nature of your scar, and your treatment goals. Be honest and share any concerns you have!
  2. Assessment : The therapist will examine your scar to determine its type, age, and condition. This helps in tailoring the treatment specifically for you.
  3. Treatment Plan : Based on the assessment, a personalised treatment plan will be created. This might include techniques like gentle massage, cupping , fascial release and manual lymphatic drainage.
  4. First Treatment Session : Your therapist will explain the process step-by-step, ensuring you're comfortable and informed. Depending on the method, you might feel some very mild discomfort and sensation’s but it should be very manageable . It is totally normal to feel a little overwhelmed at the first session
  5. Aftercare Advice : Post-treatment care is crucial! You'll get tips on how to care for your own skin, recommended products , dressings , and lifestyle adjustments to get the best results.

Please make sure your wound is fully healed, no ooze, no infection, no scabs. You must be at least 8 weeks post c-section.
