Scar therapy is a non-invasive treatment designed to support healing and comfort within scar tissue. Using gentle pressure and specialised fascial techniques, scar therapy works at a pace and pressure that suits you, helping to stimulate both the scar and the underlying tissues.

This treatment may help reduce symptoms such as pain, sensitivity or numbness, limited movement or tightness, pulling or puckering of the skin, and fibrous scar tissue or scar adhesions.

Scar therapy can also support overall wellbeing and help you reconnect with your scar in a gentle, supportive way. While scar therapy is widely practised in the UK and America, it is still relatively new in Ireland, and I am so excited to share my knowledge and passion for healing with you.

During your scar therapy session, you can expect a supportive and personalised experience. Your initial consultation will involve an open and safe conversation where Carla will discuss your medical history, the nature of your scar, and your treatment goals. You will have space to share your birth experience and any concerns you may have about your scar.

Following this, Carla will assess your scar to determine its type, age, and condition. This allows the treatment to be tailored specifically to your needs. Based on this assessment, a personalised treatment plan will be created, which may include techniques such as gentle massage, cupping, fascial release, and manual lymphatic drainage.

Your first treatment session will be explained step by step so you feel comfortable and informed throughout. You may experience mild sensations or very gentle discomfort, but this should always feel manageable. It is completely normal to feel a little overwhelmed during your first session, and everything will be carried out at a pace you are comfortable with.

Aftercare is an important part of the process. You will receive guidance on how to care for your skin at home, along with recommendations for products, dressings, and lifestyle adjustments to help you achieve the best possible results.

Please ensure your wound is fully healed before attending your appointment, with no oozing, infection, or scabs present. Scar therapy typically begins from around six weeks postpartum, although older scars can also be treated. In most cases, the earlier treatment begins, the better the outcome.

The cost of an initial scar therapy appointment is €120. Some health insurance providers may reimburse this cost, so please check with your insurer in advance. Repeat appointments are priced at €90.
