Night Nanny Service – Ask the Midwife

At Ask the Midwife, all of our night nannies are professional, registered midwives who specialise in providing overnight care and support to newborns and their parents.

Our focus is on helping new parents get some much-needed rest by caring for your baby during the night. This allows you to sleep and recharge, knowing your baby is safe, soothed, and well cared for.

We provide personalised guidance during this vulnerable time, always promoting evidence-based advice. Whether you’re looking for a single night of uninterrupted sleep or ongoing support through the first few weeks, our team is here to help.

Times: Usually from 9pm - 7am, however if you need to adjust slightly this can be organised with your midwife in advance.

Cost: You will pay a 50euro deposit, the remaining 200euro will be paid directly to the midwife on the night

What Our Night Nannies Do

The role of a night nanny varies depending on your family’s needs. For some families, this may mean extra guidance and reassurance with their first baby; for others, it may simply be the chance to enjoy an uninterrupted night’s sleep.

Benefits & Features

  • Feeding support – Night nannies will feed your baby during the night so you can rest. We support breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or a combination of both. Our midwives are experienced in soothing babies, ensuring a calm transition between feeds.

  • Nappy changes – Your baby will be kept clean, comfortable, and settled after each feed.

  • Sleep training guidance – Our nannies have expertise in gentle sleep techniques and can help parents establish healthy sleep habits. This may include introducing gentle schedules, supporting self-soothing, and encouraging restful nights for your baby.

  • Monitoring – Your baby’s well-being is closely observed throughout the night, with attention to signs of discomfort or illness.

  • Parental guidance – We provide advice on newborn care, including feeding routines, nappies, and soothing strategies.

  • Nighttime routines – We can help set up a consistent nighttime routine tailored to your family, promoting better sleep for both baby and parents.

  • Record-keeping – On request, nannies can maintain logs of feeds, nappy changes, and sleep patterns to help track your baby’s progress.

  • Light household tasks – Where needed, we can support with tasks related to baby care, such as washing bottles, preparing formula, or baby laundry.
