About your practitioner:
Hi, I’m Emma - a children’s and general nurse, midwife, and mama, here to support you with every step of your feeding journey.
I’m passionate about helping families feel calm and confident through the early days of feeding. Whether you're preparing to breastfeed or navigating challenges after birth, you don’t have to do it alone. I breastfed my own little boy and understand firsthand both the beauty and the challenges of lactation. I’m also a big advocate of colostrum harvesting in late pregnancy and love supporting families to get off to a strong start.
With over ten years of experience working with lactating families including in neonatal intensive care and postnatal care, I am ongoing training towards becoming an IBCLC in September. I bring both expertise and empathy to every appointment. I recently completed The National Infant Feeding Program and Excellence in Lactation Support training to further enhance the care I provide.
Let’s work together to help you reach your feeding goals - in a way that feels right for you and your baby.

FAQs:
- When is the best time to book an antenatal breastfeeding consultation?
Ideally, around 32–37 weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, you're close enough to birth for the information to feel relevant and timely, and we can also discuss colostrum harvesting.
- Do I need to have made a decision about how I’m feeding before booking?
No. Whether you're planning to breastfeed, formula feed, or are still unsure - you are welcome. These sessions are about providing you with clear, kind information so you feel confident in whatever feeding choice you make.
- What happens during a postnatal consultation?
We start with a gentle, in-depth conversation about your feeding experience so far. Then I’ll observe a feed (if baby is ready), assess latch, positioning, and check for anything that may be causing difficulties (e.g. tongue tie, supply issues). I’ll guide you through practical changes, answer your questions, and make a plan that aligns with your goals.
- Do you support bottle feeding and formula feeding too?
Yes. I support breastfeeding, formula, mixed feeding, and pumping. You deserve expert, non-judgemental support, whatever feeding looks like for your family.
- Do you assess for tongue-tie?
Yes - I have training in identifying oral restrictions like tongue tie. If I suspect a tongue tie, I’ll explain what I see and refer you to a trusted specialist if needed.
- Can my partner or support person attend too?
Yes, absolutely. Feeding is often a team effort, and it’s great to include partners or anyone else who’ll be supporting you. They’re welcome to ask questions too.
